Out Of 10

A six month performance evaluation.

Exodus 20:1-17

1. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You must have no other gods before me.
2. Do not make an idol for yourself—no form whatsoever—of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. Do not bow down to them or worship them, because I, the Lord your God, am a passionate God. I punish children for their parents’ sins even to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me. But I am loyal and gracious to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.
3. Do not use the Lord your God’s name as if it were of no significance; the Lord won’t forgive anyone who uses his name that way.
4. Remember the Sabbath day and treat it as holy. Six days you may work and do all your tasks, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. Do not do any work on it—not you, your sons or daughters, your male or female servants, your animals, or the immigrant who is living with you. Because the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them in six days, but rested on the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother so that your life will be long on the fertile land that the Lord your God is giving you.
6. Do not kill.
7. Do not commit adultery.
8. Do not steal.
9. Do not testify falsely against your neighbor.
10. Do not desire your neighbor’s house. Do not desire and try to grab your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox, ass, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.

From what I know of the current President, I would give him a 2.5 out of 10 on the OT scale:
1. His greatest love seems to be for himself.
2. He seems to worship money, power, extravagance, status, etc.
3. During the campaign, he seemed to call upon the Lord's name and testified inauthentically.
4. I have not observed any indication that he has become a regular church-goer, but there are other ways of keeping Sabbath (like golfing). I have not seen a reduction of combative tweets on Sundays however.
5. I do not know his relationship with his parents. He considers himself a self-made man in spite of their assistance.
6. Since he is not in prison, I will give him this one.
7. Next!
8. This is yet to be determined by numerous outstanding court cases.
9. Based upon frequent reversals during and after the campaign, I can only assume that some of the alternative truths are his.
10. Enough said...

But what if we put a Jesus-spin on it? Since he has so much support from "religious" people, surely he is Christlike?

Matthew 5:21-48

OT6. Insults in anger are murder! (5:21-26)
OT7. Looking at a person in lust is adultery! (5:27-30)
OT7. Divorce is adultery! (5:31-32)
OT9. Let your word be Yes for Yes or No for No! (5:33-37)

I therefor give him a 1.5 out of 10 on the OT/NT scale.

Dear Mr. President: may the Spirit fill you and change you so that your score rises.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, rumors of a man called Jesus were everywhere. King Herod's attorneys and advisors had all sorts of ide...
